The Wild Daffodil is still found in the wild in the Belgian Ardennes and the Swiss-French Jura. In the Netherlands it is a Red list type. It is very likely that the Wild Daffodil used to occur in the wild in Fryslân in wet meadows. The last known growing place was in the vicinity of Koudum. Species that were present in the wild were transplanted early to gardens. The current grassland management is not suitable for the growth of species such as the Wild Daffodil. This explains why the species no longer occurs in the wild in Fryslân. Although other types of Narcissus often occur in Stinzen environments, the Wild Daffodil is the only species that can naturalise in the Stinzen environment. Nevertheless, the species is not very common in Fryslân in Stinzen gardens as far as we know.

The Wild Daffodil occurs at Philippusfenne, at the Schierstins and Stinze Stiens.
