There was a lot of wind and rain last week. No attractive weather to venture out to see stinzen plants. The Squils suffered from the bad weather. There was not so much to be seen last week. But change is coming.

Flowering: start full decreasing
Present: here and there regular massive
The weather forecast for the coming week is getting better. Sun, dry, less wind and higher temperatures. Next week you can enjoy the second wave of flowering stinzen plants. The Bulbous Corydalis will increasingly show its flowers everywhere, the Wild Daffodil and many other daffodil species are in bloom.
The flowers of the Yellow Anemone will increasingly be seen, just like the flowers of the Salmon berry. The Yellow Star-of-Betlehem is now in full bloom near the Schierstins and the number of plants at this location is on the increase. The Sweet Violets are in full bloom. The autumn atmosphere will give way to a real spring feeling next week.
We have purchased the book “The world of Crocuses” by Janis Ruksans. This book describes all known wild crocus species and their distribution. With the help of this book we hope to gain a little more insight into the crocus species that have traditionally been found on historic sites.
From a very small preliminary investigation, it seems that the species at Stinze-Stiens has a lot in common with that at Martenastate, while that at De Klinze may be a different species.
The participants in the Stinzenflora-monitor organise various activities during the Stinzenflora season. The events that are now known are listed below. ‘Open gardens’ with private garden owners are often mentioned shortly before in this calendar and on the websites of the participants. Opening up depends on the flowering of the Stinzenplants and the weather.
For possibilities of (group) visits you can contact the relevant participant.
